Spud enjoys piping at many of Scotland's most breathtaking wedding venues, from the rustic and pretty, to grand hotels and beautiful castles. There is a perfect venue in Scotland, whatever you are planning.
As couples in the midst of planning a wedding often ask about the many choices of spectacular venues within Scotland, we asked Spud to share some of his insights into these beautiful venues.
Achnagairn House is a beautiful place not far from Inverness, it’s always lovely to pipe here. The grounds are so lovely where I often play. Its ballroom is unique and very popular.
Aldourie Castle is set on lovely Lochness. With its very spacious grounds, this gorgeous castle is perfect for weddings and events. It’s a favourite of mine as it’s just so lovely here. Lots of weddings are held here and I have loads of lovely memories. Great venue.
Aviemore Highland Resort is well known in Strathspey. They offer a range of different options, as there are a number of hotels here. It’s near my home and I pipe here very frequently.
Banchory Lodge Hotel is set on the banks of the lovely Dee River. It’s a great location. I’m here a lot and it’s very popular for weddings.
Banff Springs Hotel in Banff is a great place to go. There are many weddings here for me each year and it’s a well set venue.
Bogbain Farm is just south of Inverness with great options for a wedding. The lovely barn and rustic ceremony area make it a great wedding venue.
Bunchrew House is set on the Beauly Firth just outside Inverness. It’s a cracking wedding venue with lovely, well kept grounds.bunchrewhousehotel.com
Cluny Castle is a wonderful building and it’s grounds are spectacular. Set in rural Aberdeenshire it’s a perfect wedding venue. I love to visit here.
Craigellachie Hotel is on the banks of the Spey. It’s a very busy place with the best whisky selection I’ve ever seen! A lovely venue for a wee wedding!
Drumossie Hotel Inverness is very popular for weddings, I’m here almost every week. The hotel has lovely grounds and scenery.
Drumtochty Castle is a very popular wedding venue with its own chapel. It’s grounds are always a favourite for wedding photos. I like it here a lot.
Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin caters for all sizes of wedding. It has lovely grounds, plenty of space and is a popular place for weddings.
Eilean Donan Castle is one of my favourite places to go as it's so beautiful. It’s quiet and peaceful here until I pipe! The scenery is so lovely with Loch Duich close by. The midges can be very course on a damp summer evening, but the castle staff are all lovely, so this makes up for them! Weddings are very popular here.
Fasque Castle is near Fettercairn. A cracking castle with its own church, and lovely place to pipe.
Glentruim Estate near Newtonmore is peaceful, beautiful and very popular. It has its own modern chapel near the house. It’s a lovely place to go and pipe.
Hilton Coylum Bridge is set in lovely Strathspey with cracking views to the Cairngorms. It’s a large hotel and they do lots of weddings annually in and out. I like playing here, its always fun!
Innes House at Fochabers is a castle like building. It’s very old and very lovely. They cater for all sorts here, with a lovely marquee for larger weddings and great grounds to pipe in!
Inverlochy Castle is a great place. Very popular and always busy with tourists. It’s a lovely location for wedding ceremonies and has cracking views!
Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness is another popular wedding venue. With a new function suite and lovely grounds, it’s perfect for wedding photos. It’s lovely here, and near the city centre.
Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin is a place I visit often. They host many lovely weddings. It’s very nice here.
Letterfindlay Lodge is a well set older venue with great views of the surrounding mountains. I often come here to play and its always a great laugh.
Lochness Country House Hotel is on the outskirts of Inverness, a very popular wedding venue set in gorgeous grounds which is well equipped and a lovely venue, I love a wee wedding here!
Logie Country House at Inverurie is a lovely venue, I play here often. A lovely location with great scenery. The buildings are wonderful and the staff are sweet.
Mansfield Hotel in Elgin is well known. Ross and his team have me there often at weddings and different events. A well set out venue with a new function suite.
Mary Coulter House is also on the banks of the lovely Dee River. Another popular wedding venue which I regularly visit.
Meldrum House is a very popular venue and it has a choice of ceremony locations within the grounds. I always like to pipe here. It has a new function suite recently added so there is something for everyone.
Muckrach Lodge Hotel is a beautiful building, which has only recently been completely restored. They cater for everyone here and they sometimes have a marquee for larger weddings. A lovely peaceful venue set in beautiful grounds with views to kill.
Pittodrie House at Pitcaple, is a great venue surrounded by lovely scenery. It’s always nice to pipe here and they have lots of outdoor weddings which are always sweet.
Thainstone House at Inverurie is another popular Aberdeenshire venue. They are a very busy team and I’m here often. A lovely venue, grounds and scenery.
The Barn, Barra Castle old Meldrum is a recently refurbished venue. It’s a sweet place and always nice to pipe here. It’s a lovely big venue with a lot of space.
The Golf View Hotel in Nairn is another popular venue situated beside the sea. It’s a lovely wedding venue.
The Newton Hotel in Nairn is another popular wedding venue with its own private chapel and huge grounds. I like playing here. It’s a place I’ve been piping at for many years.
